REFLECTIONS:THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF GENERATIVE DESIGN IN ARCHITECTURE
2003, 2003 Generative Arts Conference
SYNOPSIS: This paper explores the connections between cognitive design processes and the composition of software code which generates architectural forms autonomously. Similarities are drawn between the pedagogic process (teacher – student) and the crafting of applications to generate forms (programmer/designer – computer). Through an interactive iterative process of generative design and programmatic intervention, architectural forms evolve and are refined.

WHAT CONSTITUTES FORM GENERATION?
2003, COMING SOON
SYNOPSIS: What are the aspects of form generation? To what degree can we judge forms created through independent systems? Coming soon.

A PLACE FOR THINGS
2002, Shinkenchiku Competition
SYNOPSIS: The informed and collected everyday object becomes the genesis of our structures. We believe that architecture can do more than hold; it can also be generated by our things.

The architectural representations are generated through computational algorithms using the inherent properties of the common objects. The architectural vessel adapts, and reflects, the varying contents it contains – thus making each generation unique and instantaneous. Expose an object’s variables and the resultant by-product becomes architecture.

AGENT GENERATED ARCHITECTURE - ACADIA
1997, Acadia Journal
SYNOPSIS: This paper will describe a behavior based artifical intelligence experiment in computer generated architectural design and will explain the internal representations and procedures of an agent based autonomous system. This is a departure from traditional top-down approaches, allowing hundres of agents to work simultaneously-building, manipulating, and dismantling. their environment. Indivudial agents work in collaboration in disjunction or autonomously.

NON-PLACE SPACE
1994, USC Undergraduate Thesis
SYNOPSIS: An exploration of the urban landscape within Los Angeles coupled with generative algorithms to create space which is metaphorically and physically related to place in a transient manner. One of the first works relating strictly to the creation of a design language which extends beyond the human ability to design.
